THE ROSE OF THE DESERT

Here are a few pictures I found in my desktop they are from my last Christmas, while my parents and I went to celebrate the holidays in the desert. We stopped in a town called Tozeur in the South of Tunisia. Those pictures were taken in an oasis nearby the place where they shot Star War it was really amazing! I will try to find the rest of the pictures to show you more of them.
I really like that place because all the mountains and rocks you see are made of sea shells and marine fossils and fossil rocks since this place used to be under the ocean a million years ago. It was quite impressive to see a beautiful and green place like that in the middle of the desert. I hope you like them!

I wish you all a great week :)

Wow, they're beautiful! So crazy for me to think that, at Christmas, certain places are boiling hot and sunny. It's madness in comparison to here! Beautiful madness. x

Wow. and they filmed star wars near there? Man, I like that. And plus, your photos look sooo classic. Like you took it 15 years ago... but in a good way!

@ Alanna: You definetly should it's a really pleasant place, and they are really interesting things to see ^^

@ Piter: Thanks a lot, that means a lot :)

@ Livingeasylovingfree: Yes it is, it was my first time there, I was amazed by the place.

@ Emma: Actually the weather can get really chilly at night in the desert, especially at night .But yes, it's strange in a certain way because the only christmas I knew since I was a kid where under the tropic. I have never a snowy Christmas, since I go back to Africa every holiday.

@ Valnouveau: Thanks your comments are always so sweet ^^

@ Clara: Your are so lovely , thanks ^^ I bet it was awesome , it's great you had the time to enjoy at least a little bit of it !

@ Yet: Yes they did, I will try to find the shot soon and post it..Oh that's nice, I like it too when the photos look a little dated :)

@ Paperwhales: the camels are such proud animals, they were amazing to shoot

wow tozeur in the south tunisia! sounds so adventurous! AND CAMEL GOSH!
was there a reason your family chose there?

Marinka said...

@emmema: Well since Tunisia is a muslim country people don't celebrate christmas, so there are no decoration in the stores or on the streets. So My mum thought it would be quite boring just to stay at home, so she proposed the desert as a fun and adventurous getaway. And I must say I really enjoyed it, it was quite a good change :)

cupcake said...

The desert seems to be quite green too! I've been there in the summer and it was all yellow and dry... the roses are so beautiful!

I love them, Marinka! The idea of an oasis is so intriguing - a paradise in the midst of a hostile environment. The rose of the desert is a beautiful stone, no?
