DESERT STREET LIFE

“The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page. St. Augustin

″A traveler without observation is a bird without wings.” Moslih Eddin Saadi

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” Mark Twain

I took those two photos this winter when I went to Tunisia to see my family. The first is a guy selling harissa in the middle of the desert. I love those little hot peppers but I had no idea why he was selling them there because they was really no one around, but he seemed to know what he was doing.
The second is a food market in Tozeur, I loved the city it was calm peaceful .A sweet little village in the middle of the desert .

ONE QUESTION

Fifty People, One Question: London from Fifty People, One Question on Vimeo.

I watch this video on Lolita's blog and I literally fell in love with the story behind this video. I love those type of film which shows people's deepest thoughts and dreams. They are full of sensitiveness and truthfulness . And I like how a simple answer to a single question can actually tell you a lot about those people's life and what they might have been going through.

WORK!! :)

Yesterday my boyfriend and I went to a coffee shop, to study our upcoming exams. It was a beautiful sunny day. We didn't do anything special, but we were really busy with all the work we had left to do. I found that it sometimes sucks to be obliged to work when everyone is going to the beach or the pool. This weather fits more for the fun. So I am glad I just have two more weeks to go, and then I will be free from any other obligation at least until the fall ^^
The photos are from our afternoon of study :)

BOOKS

A good book has no ending. R.D. Cumming

Books let us into their souls and lay open to us the secrets of our own. William Hazlitt

A book is like a garden carried in the pocket. Chinese Proverb

I found this one just funny :
Always read something that will make you look good if you die in the middle of it. P.J. O'Rourke

LONELINESS

Loneliness
Loneliness is darkness
A never-ending night.
Even though the black won’t go away,
You’ll never fall asleep.
Because loneliness sparks a fear
 And unlike other nightmares
Awakening will not vanish it;
For the darkness is too strong
To allow any rest.
It makes memories into ghosts
 And dreams into spirits.
Too vague to remember
 Too important to forget.
K.L.
This is a poem I found about loneliness and I think it quite reflects the feelings you experienced when you are alone. Not that I feel
lonely now, but I found that the deepest feelings are always at the extreme. Either you are happy, in love , cheerful
or either you are depressed, sad, lonely. I don't know why but I feel that those are the two extremes that really make you feel alive.

MIAOU

I love those two photos , they are from last summer. I took the first at a friends house, she had this black cat call "Čert" which means Satan in Czech, because he is could be so mean sometimes.lol.but evil or not I love how intense his eyes looked. The second one is from a zoo in the south of Czech republic, I loved the nature there it felt more like a farm than a zoo, so you felt less sad about the animals in there.

SUMMER'S COMING

What is one to say about June, the time of perfect young summer, the fulfillment of the promise of the earlier months, and with as yet no sign to remind one that its fresh young beauty will ever fade. Gertrude Jekyll

In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer. Albert Camus

THE COLOR OF WINTER

Ph.by me

I prefer winter and fall, when you feel the bone structure of the landscape - the loneliness of it, the dead feeling of winter. Something waits beneath it, the whole story doesn't show. Andrew Wyeth

Winter came down to our home one night
Quietly pirouetting in on silvery-toed slippers of snow,
And we, we were children once again.
Bill Morgan, Jr.

The color of springtime is in the flowers, the color of winter is in the imagination. Terri Guillemets

WALKING ON A DREAM

Walking on a dream, how can I explain
Talking to myself, will I see again

We are always running for the thrill of it thrill of it
Always pushing up the hill searching for the thrill of it
On and on and on we are calling out and out again
Never looking down I’m just in awe of what’s in front of me

Is it real now, when two people become one
I can feel it, when two people become one

"Thought I'd never see
The love you found in me
Now it's changing all the time
Living in a rhythm where the minutes working overtime

Walking on a dream-Empire of the Sun

I like listening to this song whenever I feel a little tired or sad because it cheers me up in a minute..I also love the video which in such a cool scenery :)

FAMILY TIME

I don't care how poor a man is; if he has family, he's rich.

“Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.”

I took those photos last summer when we were in Czech republic visiting my grand parents. What I love about them is that it reflect the personality of each one of them:
My cousin Katerina is such a dreamer, and whenever we go to see her she can't get her hands of my brother ^^and I thin they look cute together
My brother on the other hand is obsessed with being a pilot, its all that he talks about, he can spend hours drawing planes, and whenever we travel somewhere he has to have his plane :)
My sister ,finally, she is a mix of a lot of stuff and she changes her style every six months.Last summer she was a burlesque fashionista hippie according to her, and she just made me laugh with it.

Anyway I like those photos because even if they are not looking at the camera, I feel like for those who know them at least they would recognize the personality of each one of them in it. And also I like taking photos of people when they are not aware of it because that is when they look more natural and true to themselves.

FRUSTRATION AND HOPE

Our frustration is greater when we have much and want more than when we have nothing and want some. We are less dissatisfied when we lack many things than when we seem to lack but one thing. - Eric Hoffer

Life is not an easy matter... You cannot live through it without falling into frustration and cynicism unless you have before you a great idea which raises you above personal misery, above weakness, above all kinds of perfidy and baseness. - Leon Trotsky

No matter how discourage we get, God has never asked us to do the impossible. - George Grace

Sometimes in life we feel like we have reach the point of no return and we feel frustrated because things doesn't go our way. And this makes us think that our goals and dreams seems unreachable, but I think its all about organizing our priorities and not getting frustration get the best of us. We all need those high hopes to push our limits and gives us the opportunity to give our best, even if we don't reach them at least it gives us the chance to reach others that we probably wouldn't have reached if we didn't made that effort in the first place.

ITS RAINING OUTSIDE

Clouds come floating into my life, no longer to carry rain or usher storm, but to add color to my sunset sky.
Rabindranath Tagore

Its raining outside today, all I want to do its just stay at home with my boyfriend. So its not that bad, but its funny how the springtime can be so tricky. One day its hot the other day its cold..So until the sun comes out I will be wearing my warm cardi, and watch the rain fall down.
Have a nice a great week end!

MONTREAL

“When you look at a city, it's like reading the hopes, aspirations and pride of everyone who built it.”

“A city is the pulsating product of the human hand and mind, reflecting man's history, his struggle for freedom, creativity, genius-and his selfishness and errors.” Charles Abrams

As a remedy to life in society I would suggest the big city. Nowadays, it is the only desert within our means. Albert Camus

I like the last quote because, its true that one of the biggest deserts are the city, you are so crowed but yet you feel so alone. It.s a strange but fascinating feeling.

The pictures above are taken in Montreal, they are from 2 weeks ago. Montreal is one of my favorite city here in Canada because it has conserved a good part of history that is still present in the architecture. It's a beautiful mix between the XIX century and XXI st century. I just enjoy being there. There is always something new and interesting to discover and experience. I will post more photos from Montreal soon ;)

JEWELRY

Jewelry takes people's minds off your wrinkles. ~Sonja Henie

A woman wears her tears like jewelry. ~Author Unknown

And one of my favorite quote from Breakfast at Tiffany's, Holly is such a funny character:

I don't want to own anything until I know I've found the place where me and things belong together. I'm not quite sure where that is just yet. But I know what it's like.... It's like Tiffany's.... Not that I give a hoot about jewelry. Diamonds, yes. But it's tacky to wear diamonds before you're forty...
~Truman Capote, Breakfast at Tiffany's, 1958, spoken by the character Holly Golightly

CLIC CLIC

"Photography is a way of feeling, of touching , of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever..it remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything"

Aaron Siskind

"To me photography is an art of observation. It's about finding something interesting in an ordinary place...I've found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them."

Eliott Erwitt

I really love photography it is really one of my favorite thing to do though I am not a professional but I really take pleasure at trying to improve my skills. I found that they are so many things around us that are beautiful but we just don't take the time to look at them. Photography has really allow me to be more self conscious about my environment and the beauties that surround me.

LIGHTNESS AND TENDERNESS

"Enough for me when my hand touched your shoulder, you lean on me; and when you felt me slip away you called my name"

Orson Scott Card

"She was always like a feather, in the air
I never knew if she was flying or falling
she was always like a feather, in my life
I hope she flies
" Aura, Song for Sophie

LIFE

"The lives of great men remind us what we too can make our lives wonderful , leave behind us, after death, Footprints on the sands of time"

"Life is like a ray of light, so quick and fast that we can't catch it, but yet bright enough to guide us."

COLD SPRING

It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold: when it is summer in the light, and winter in the shade.
Charles Dickens

Spring is not the best of seasons.
Cold and flu are two good reasons;
wind and rain and other sorrow,
warm today and cold tomorrow.

Author Unknown
